Woke up very early this morning, about 5am and decided to go out metal detecting before the sun got too hot. I went out at about 6am and started hitting a common area next to the basketball courts. On about the third hole I dug, the Tesoro Cibola hit it’s first gold of the year ending a long gold dry spell. A nice large 10k class ring from 1969. It was in a very trashy area and I didn’t find much of anything else but the gold was well worth the early morning trip. My coin totals have been small the last 2 months because it has been too hot to do anything let alone dig holes.

Nothing special here at all, just a quick coin shooting run late in the evening to beat the heat. I did find a Yugoslavian Dinar, it makes you wonder how some of these coins end up in the ground in remote locations.

Went out metal detecting around the apartment complex again. The bugs are out in force and eat you alive. It becomes difficult because you want to take clothes off because it is hot, but you want to cover up to protect against the mosquitoes. Anyhow, I found a working MP3 player in some tall grass, it is a cheapy but at least it turns on. I also found a TCB necklace, (junk plated) I had no idea what it was until someone explained to me it was a pendant designed by Elvis and stands for Taking Care of Business.

Very hot weekend. I did not get out much at all in the 90+ degree weather. I did happen across my first ever lock plate. I don’t think it counts since it is a toy one. If this weekend was anything like the rest of the summer it may get way to hot to hunt at all.

Another good weekend for metal detecting even if the temperature is starting to rise. I worked a large hillside and a flat play area at the apartment complex. I have been hitting a lot more pre 1982 pennies lately, not sure if it is the dry soil or what. I did find 3 very interesting items, a little knight, pistol and axe head. I am not sure what they came from but they are neat, I am trying to get them identified.
